Negril had a special treat this week with the astounding performances by the Haringey, London young musicians. They delighted audiences with classical, big band and jazz pieces for two and a half hours at the Negril Beach and Kool Runnings Water Parks. The youngsters aged between 10 yrs and 19 yrs all live within the London Borough of Haringey. The tour of the youngsters was organised by the Travellers Hotel based N.E.E.T organisation (www.neetja.com), The Mannings High School and the London Borough of Haringey. They will be living with Jamaican families, experiencing the Jamaican way of life and exposing Jamaican youngsters to different forms of music. It is expected that students from Mannings School in Sav will be travelling to London next year as part of the exchange. It was a real pleasure to see Jamaican kids dancing and enjoying the performance. In particular they loved the jazz section and could be seen "doing the chicken" enthusiastically. We look forward to similiar such performances in the future. << Yesterday
