Topic: Arts and Culture|

Heartiest congratulations to all Jamaicans!

The world’s two fastest men (asafa Powell and Usain Bolt, Jamaicans of course, claiming the gold medal for Jamaica in the recent 4×1 relay, Friday August 23. Another medal garnered, another record set by Jamaicans. PHOTO TAKEN FROM NBC SITE.

CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN order for Jamaica in its celebrations of its 46th year of Independence.

Indeed just moments after the finale of our Grand Gala and Float parade, our athletes have done us proud and given us enough reasons to connect with our inner strengths. Our Motto “Hardships they are, but the land is green and the sun shineth” comes alive.

One Love Drive

Topic: Arts and Culture|

Negril’s West End road or “One Love Drive” has been undergoing a facelift with the help of art students from the Edna Manley School of Art which is Jamaica’s premier art school. The project is part of plans by the Negril West End Cluster (and funded by the government of Jamaica and the European Union) to promote Negril and boost its West End in particular. The aim is to support and aid all types of businesses along the West End and make the area a premier Jamaican attraction and resort area. The design and painting of shop fronts is just the beginning with plans on the way to add much needed sidewalks and to ultimately create a festival atmosphere with the best shopping , arts, music, restaurants and all things authentically Jamaican.

of Independence with BAM BAM!!

WHAT A BAM bam as Jamaicans would say in native tongue in reference to any event going beyond expectations. To start off 2008 celebrations of Independence, 10 beautiful floats carried more than high spirits through the streets of the capital city, Kingston. Soon enough to be accompanied by gala dancing, marching bands, plenty singing, eating and more as they were guided through the streets and to their final destination at the National Stadium for the Grand Gala performances.

It was all good for all Jamaica turning 46 at last! Click Jamaica celebrates Independence with Grand Gala to see full article by Anthea McGibbon, Content Editor.
