Cliff Notes for Pic Enlarging...

421Here is my version of the 'Cliff Notes' in order to upload your pic larger. When you upload a pic from your computer, from clicking the paper clip, it gives you 2 choices.

URL or computer.

Upload from computer and you will see the thumbnail. Use your cursor and see the pencil in the left corner. When you click on the that, it's says....Image settings and size of the pic. Use large and then save.

Click the advanced settings...then preview. It should come up in a larger size.

That is what I have done...and works for me. I know Rob has posted the instructions...but I prefer 'trial and error' and found this as easy as any!

Sprat when i do advanced reply, the picture option does not let me go to my computer files423 it only goes to the url and the attachment does not give me the option with the little pencil to edit in preview what's up now! Ive been trying for two days to do it again but I cant!!!!

Ok....step by step...425

First, in the reply post....click to find your pic in the computer. When you have it, upload and it will be a thumbnail...
Then down to the right...click go advanced. You will see a preview pic....and another one below that is in your message.

Do the pencil thing, on the pic on the bottom. Click to large pic then save....then preview....

It should be large...and then submit...

Is that better?

Thanks Sprat for all the help but for me is still not working Im in the advance section of the reply and I click on the picture Icon and I only get the url option this option lets me post big pics like the following http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/j366/beadelc/P6140663.jpg
The attachment icon when i press it gives me more options like my album from pics I downloaded before and my computer. But when I download a pic from my computer it only adds it to my album and if I select it to attach, it attaches but as a small picture and if you click on it, it will become bigger but in another page! this is what it shows when i press the attach icon431 I have to drag it from my album and this shows! if i select and atachment from my computer files it first puts it in my album and then I have to drag it down!

Did I do something to the setting to erase my computer option in the pic option?

Cant find the pencil thing either, so do you have to up load the pictures to an album first, because thats the only way I see!

I also do not get a pencil when hovering over the thumbnail in the advance settings.

I do not get the paperclip option to attach a picture unless I am in the advanced settings. The only option I have in regular reply is the insert image which of course doesn't help because my photos are on my computer not a hosted site. Or am I missing something else?

WHERE DO I SEARCH FOR MY PICS FIRST! that is the biggest Question?

LETS DO THIS STEP BY STEP So
1)I GO TO reply on the thread that I want to post a pic
2) I go to my own computer files and choose a picture or do i go to the picture icon on the reply section this is where i get lost!
a) if i press the pic icon on this reply(which is not a quick reply its a reply with a quote) I get only the option of URl!
b) if i go to my files on my computer from my computers search engine and i paste a pictures this it what it shows I98Y3Q
c) at this point i have to or quick reply that does not let me preview or I have to go to advance

3) if I go to advance to preview again the pic option gives me just the choice for an url no option for the computer files and URL!
This is what i see when I press the pic. icon at the reply option!

I thought I would try this at my office this morning at my office, and I did say to use the paper clip....but it's actually the ( insert image tag) beside the envelop that I used. That is where you can select your image. I guess you could use the paper clip, but maybe that is what seems to be the problem, and why you can't see the pencil.

Just tryed another test by clicking on the paperclip, my photos came up, I clicked the box in the corner, but I did drag it down below.

So the procedure is:


1. Reply to thread
2. Go advanced
3. Add files
4. drag below to attachments
5. Click insert line
6. Thumbnail Pic comes up
7. Go to left corner - for pencil edit
8. Image edit comes up - hit large
9. Save
10. Preview
11. Submit

So the enlarging works both ways....:D

after i insert it shows some words here in the reply little square, if i dont preview post i cant see anything and if i preview i dont get the pencil i only get the thumbnail that if i click on it it gets bigger but on another separate page that if I close it, it will erase everything and will have to start from scratch!

I can see no pencil! so could it be my engine right now i switch to Safari, but previously i was using mozilla, are you using explorer?

Thanks for all the help sprat, but no matter what I do I can't get a larger picture. I think that this new board has made MANY things MUCH more difficult to do.

I used to post pictures but I am giving it up because all I seem to be able to do is thumbnails.

Bea, I am using explorer...but there is not much more I can help with, as I did go through all the steps...and it just works at this end.

Here is additional info to add with Sprat's list. I could not get the drag and drop function to work with the latest version of Internet Explorer. I used Firefox.

When you do add the image, if you only see the funky text and not the thumbnail, click the Editor button on the right hand side. Then you can re-size using the pencil icon. You do not Preview first.

Ok finally got when i get reply i go the reply box and press that little square at the top right hand corner of the box. and then I can press the picture icon and it gives me the options of computer or URL!!! and then I can see the pencil in the thumbnail!!!!

J-Ville Mark I tried what you said and didn't preview BUT I'm still getting thumbnails. Surely there could be an easier way to add pictures like in the old board. This one is so convoluted that I have spent hours resizing (for the attachment), uploading and then trying to actually post a picture. I GIVE UP!!

Hi SLP..it took me a bit too:) Once you have the thumbnail added, what happens when you hover over the thumbnail pic? When you hover over the thumbnail, the pencil icon should appear. Click the pencil to open the enlargement window. If you do not see the pencil, perhaps try the process in another browser like Firefox or Chrome.

The quick reply option is just that, to respond quickly. To upload pics, you need to click on "Go Advanced" button right next to the Post Quick Reply button

I hope the photo challenges/differences don't stop people from posting them! I really on photos pretty heavily between trips. I am going to give it a try when I get home from work. I have successfully done the thumbnail images, but not yet enlarged them. Thanks for the directions, Sprat.

I am really getting frustrated. I "think" I finally figured out how to post a picture, but I CANNOT find any pencil or clip or anything that will allow me to enlarge it from thumbnail. I hovered over picture...nothing!Only shows the clip and option to enlarge in preview.

To those still not getting the pencil. Follow Sprats instructions first...then look at the instruction screen shot pic that J-Ville Mark posted on page two of this thread. He has an arrow drawn in on the right of that photo showing u where to click first. I had to click that little thing first THEN i finally got the pencil over my thumbnail to get the choice on enlarging. Between Sprat and J-ville..I finally got it. Thanks to both of you !!

not sure if it worked this time......tried it in explorer and previously was using chrome. in chrome i could only get as far as step 8 ...the editor key was just not there. appears when in explorer. so will c if this makes it bigger.

I have decided that I like the thumbnail size better. If you are not registered and logged in, you can not click the image to see it at a larger size. Much better option and it entices people to register. Just sayin

Great visual guide, but I personally never had to use the step ( switch editor mode ) ever, so ...if you find that you can do it without, that is for many, an unecessary step. I just the the image insert...and all is good!
