I am sad to confirm that Alfred Barrett was indeed shot and killed last night, the details are sketchy with differing reports on TVJ and the Gleaner but the bottom line is that he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time?!
I will post more later but at the moment am overwhelmed...

OMG I am so sorry for your loss Tracy, I know Alfred was a very dear friend of yours. I knew him slightly but from what I did know he was a kind man. Another senseless killing....just makes one sick. RIP Alfred....you will be missed.

Gosh, speechless here. The wife and I had the pleasure of spending a day with Alfred in 2009. We even went to his home and met his wife .... sorry if I do not recall her first name. May the Lord bless his family and friends.

Tracy, we never met you, but Alfred spent a lot of time that day with you 'in his ear' ... You are in my prayers. If there is anything you or his family need, please let me know, we will be in Negril in early September.

I am truly saddened to the depths of my soul. I have known Alfred for many years dating back to the first meeting at the Xtabi bar. My heartfelt sympathies are sent to his family and all that shared the joy of knowing Alfred.

Alfred was my first driver to Negril....I had the pleasure of spending much time with him & getting to know Alfred as a friend over the years through Rob.

My heart goes out to his friends, Rob, Tracy and condolences to his family! We will all miss him dearly!!

Very sad. One of Negril's top cabbies and a really nice man. RIP.
