St. Anthony's Kitchen Xmas Party
Morning Greetings,
St. Anthony’s Kitchen Christmas party was filled with excitement and fun!! Things got under way much earlier than anticipated, as I arrived at 11:30 and there were already about 75 people there! Fadder JIMaica was at the microphone calling out numbers, as lines were formed to collect gifts.
Food was served, a choice of pork or goat, a very nice treat for most! I talked with some children and most of their responses made me laugh so hard!! Here are just a few:
Asked a boy about 6 years old - “are you having a good time here at the party?”, his response was ‘ova der is Santa’, as he pointed up at Santa Claus.
Asked another young boy about 8-9 years old - “why do you like Christmas time?”, his response was ‘mi love Christmas cause........ pause, pause, pause”.... lol.... he never did answer my question :)
Asked a girl about 6-7 years old – “what present would you like to get for Christmas?”, her response was ‘mi wan chocolate” and I agreed with her that is a great present and I too love chocolate! Then we both stood there and giggled together ... it was TOO cute!
Asked another girl about 10 years old – “how are you enjoying the party today?”, her response was ‘mi jus happy... only happy’..... another BIG laugh LOL..... then I said ‘you being happy makes me very happy’, she blushed and slowly walked away from me!
Saving the best for last.... I spoke with a young girl, just learning to speak.... I asked her ‘how are you today?’, her response was ‘mommy get one blankee’, and kept repeating that over and over and over! LOL.... guess I won’t find out how she was doing but I’m assuming her mother getting a blanket was a big highlight for her :)
Back to the party events.... Santa was doing his best to assist but you can imagine he had many to try and please. There were many from the Rotary Club Negril doing much hard work in the background and we can’t thank them enough for all they did to make this party such a great success! BIG thanks to all the ladies in the kitchen, and the volunteers who also helped to make this event the great party it was!
Many pictures were taken and I've been trying for over an hour to post them - so will seek Rob's help and they will be posted another time.
Merry Christmas everyone!!

Great pix but why one of me? The most important ones were the children an their parent/s. The kids were so excited that they did not know where to go first -LOL
I don't know how Fr Jim managed to stand in the blazing sun for so long. He and everyone did a magnificient job. Well done all.

Greetings SLP!
You asked why post a pic of you..... let me tell you why :) Because you are a big supporter of the Soup Kitchen, you came out to participate and even came early hoping to help out, you are a wonderful person, you look great under the green umbrella... and and and... shall I go on? Lol..... there were other pics of some others there just like you, but for some reason they didn't all get posted! I will seek Rob's help :)
