Have you ever? And can you?
I have a some Delta skymiles but not enough for 2 RT tix to Jamaica, but through Delta Vacations I can get several hundred bucks off a trip that includes hotel/air. I can book the air/hotel somewhere besides Negril for less than I can purchase the tix separately.. Can I just book that trip and not stay at that place and make my own arrangements for lodging in Negril? Are there any repercussions that I should know about.
It would be the most economical way for me to get there....so has anyone done this and how???

A few year ago we did this, we usually go to Jamaica 3 weeks plus and stay at a few different places. We like to travel. We had booked somewhere for a week and only stayed there for half of the duration. We may have called the hotel to let them know. It was so long ago I can't remember all the details. We had no problem.
