Papillon film location

Was looking at the Pushcart website and read that Steve McQueens movie Papillon filmed some scenes in their cave below restaurant. I then looked it up and found this on IMBd in the trivia section.........
The Jamaican filming location proved troublesome on three counts. First, the inclement weather proved unpredictable for filming; second, thefts were abundant, stolen goods including props, costumes, machinery and other items, amounted to around $30,000 in value; and third, Jamaican ganja marijuana was smoked regularly by a number of crew members, affecting their work ethic.

I went there to take a phtoto of where they stole the stuff and my camera was stolen?It's like I was back in time except I didn't jump off the cliff.?

the cliff that was shown when they jumped is NOT in Jamaica!

That was my understanding too, Ramboo ... The cliff they show when he jumped was somewhere coastal South America, if I recall correctly. Much of Papillon was shot in Falmouth, Jamaica though.

From what I have found the film was mostly shot in Jamaica, ocho, Falmouth, negril and Kingston. Some in Spain and a little in Maui . The prison was 800 feet long and constructed in Falmouth.
The cliff they jumped from is said to be at Xtabi but was really in Maui .McQueen did the stunt himself and talked about it and the location in many press releases.
