Any thoughts on Club Mobay? Is it worth it ... as in less hassle? Thanks!
Depends on the day of the eek, and time of year you are traveling.
We've used it twice now, and I am not sure I will use it again. It's nice to have the lounge at the end of the trip, but really, the airport is so nice... There is not much advantage. When we went in November, going through the tp dedicated security lines at the end of the trip took longer than the standard lines.
For arrival... Again, a nice perk. The person that got us was very pleasant, but zero help with the bags (she was a very petite young lady). She found our driver, which was a plus.
All that said.. If you have never done it, give it a shot. It's only a few $$, and does make for a nice bit of pampering.
We used the service last year and won't be using it this year. As Hussy said it depends on day of week, time of year and even time of day.
Upon arrival last year (a Wednesday) there was no one at immigration so it saved us absolutely no time and since we like to get to Negril as quick as possible we didn't take advantage of the arrival lounge.
Upon departure (a Saturday) it saved us maybe 20 minutes versus the normal lines. The departure lounge was nice but the food wasn't "great" and we don't get hammered at the airport anyway so it wasn't anything special. I kind of like browsing the gift shops and picking up that last bottle of licquor or jerk sauce or coffee or Ting (wasn't in the airport last year).
I'd say save the money and have a dinner at one of the nicer places in Negril.
We've done the full package the last 2 trips and will again in April. The arrival benefit really depends on how many planes come in around the same time. Both times it saved us about a half an hour in line and a drink and cold towel in the lounge waiting for our driver was nice. On departure it saved us less time in line but the "free" food and drinks in the departure lounge are nice and would have cost a lot if purchased in the concourse. I think the biggest perk is just feeling pampered. That's also why we always fly first class. Even the best travel days tend to suck so anything to ease that is worth it to me.
We love it not much value in arrivals if you're the only plane. But it's a nice place to chill out on the way out. Nice clean bathrooms. Complimentary drink and food. Friendly staff.
We used the arrival & departure service in December. Well worth it, if you are traveling during a busy time of the year. The airport was packed & we zoomed right thru!
Ok so my husband and I will be departing out of Sangster on May 21. Anyone here have experience with that time of year? Would it be benificial to use the service then? And how soon before flight would still be good to reserve?
We did it last year and will again in a couple weeks. Last year when we arrived we were greeted by a Club Mobay rep, got through immigration, got our bags, through customs and on the curb in less than 20 minutes and the immigration room was up the walkway but we were escorted through an expedited line. We do fly up front so we were first off the plane but arrive early afternoon when there seems to be a lot of arrivals. Didn't take advantage of the lounge upon arrival because our ride was waiting with refreshments on board. We were in Negril two hours after we landed and that included a couple quick stops along the way. On departure we took full advantage of the lounge plus were able to take care of our last minute duty free. We got our monies worth. We like it. It's a first class service. Our vacation starts and ends that way. Two thumbs up.
Soon come can't come soon enough!
Thanks all for the input...putting my thinking cap on for this one!
