Hire private taxi or take a shuttle....
What shuttles are there and what do they cost? Easy to find in airport?
Private driver costs? I read in an old thread that sometimes if you book a driver you can get a local cell phone for use?

Personally, we prefer to hire a driver. Cost can be anywhere from $100-$150 US return depending on the driver, maybe less for some?? They'll stop at the store, ATM or just for RedStripe if you want. Definitely the way to go if you can afford it! Many of them provide a cell for your use, you just need to add the minutes. Check the "Transportation" section above for many great drivers. I think hiring a taxi at the airport would be more expensive and a shuttle, well, not my thing...

any driver listed here is good way to go. I think 60$ one way plus tip is what 2 of us paid last year. But I now love to fly in on Timair not cheap 140 each each way but its a excursion in it self imho.
4 of my friends were just picked up at the airport by Jinx Daley on their way to Negril. All 4 first timers, and I just hung up with them and they are having a great ride in and already love Jinx. He had a cooler with some ice cold beer and they're trip is off to a great start. Jinx has been taking care of our travel needs for 20 years, and has always put a smile on my face. Kibby, you can route taxi it 3 routes for well under 10....closer to $8. It would be no more of an experience than riding the subway in Philly....prolly much cleaner and safer.
Some say the affordable route route taxi system is not for tourist as it deprives locals from transport.....find a single person in any taxi park that feels this way....or any taxi operator that wants to turn down your business...
The private way is good as well....just confirm your price and amount of stops. Some people want to make 1-100 stops along the way and turn a 90 minute ride into an all day tour of the island thingy....gotta think about this when you price it out. Be fair and kind to those private drivers....
