R.I.P. old man David, a fixture on the cliffs for many years
RIP old man David, who died Feb. 6 in front of Spyder Bar on the Cliffs. Though battling health problems for many years, he had always been a fixture on the cliffs on every single visit I've ever been to Negril.
Like a lot of us, I helped him when I could, and he always used to remember my name. If I recall, I think his brother once played in the Seastar Inn band. Towards the end, he was very poor and generally relied on the kindness of generosity of others.
He died Feb. 6 after collapsing in front of Spyda Bar. He appeared to be about 60 years old.

Gerry, I happened by shortly after he'd past, the cab I was in seemed to think he'd been "bumped"there was an ambulance there,on our way back maybe hour and a half later the ambulance was gone, unfortunately he was still laying there:( cabbie explained he'd be there til the morge came for him out of sav? By then the cabbie had heard that he simply past away and had not been "bumped".....r.i.p. Dave

I had heard of his passing that day, never did know his name but saw him in the west end several times when walking, he was Rasta Palph,s brother.

We saw the ambulance respond to the call and then 5-10 minutes later drove by. Was relieved to hear he wasn't hit by a car.....not the best way to die but better than being hit. Big gathering of people around him.

Ohhh, I've talked to him a few times over the years. He was humble and reverent. RIP David, thank you for our moments together, you touched my heart.
