Direct flights from mid-atlantic region?
Remember when Air Jamaica flew direct out of BWI to Montego Bay? I miss that airline. I know it had its problems but the smiles and the ting inflight made up for it. After them Air tran took over the route for a few years but I dont see them anymore doing direct flights. I am willing to drive several hours for a direct flight so i was hoping somebody here could help me out by telling what airports in the middle of the east coast have direct flights and what days are they? say anywhere from philly pa to norfolk va. Thanx in advance. respect mike
Re: Direct flights from mid-atlantic region?
I believe that Southwest is now flying from BWI to MBJ. That or Delta...
Re: Direct flights from mid-atlantic region?
We remember Air Jamaica, loved that airline, flew non stop out of ATL. Now we fly Delta, from BWI on Delta you will have a stop over in Atlanta, try http://matrix.itasoftware.com/ to check
on airlines and flights out of BWI. OR Kayak for flights
Re: Direct flights from mid-atlantic region?
US Airways has daily nonstop flights from Philly to MBJ. Sometimes they have multiple flights a day (on weekends and during the busy season). However, US Air has a monopoly on nonstop flights out of PHL, so they can charge whatever they want. I don't know why other airlines (ahem, Southwest) are afraid to compete with them. It seems the prices on direct flights have been going up in recent years. In April 2012, we paid ~$400 for round trip from PHL to MBJ. For our upcoming trip in November, I paid over $550 RT. In the grand scheme of things, I guess it is still less expensive and less of a hassle to fly to mbj from Philly, then from a lot of other locations. (I really feel bad for those folks on the west coast.)
Flipadelphia often flies out of BWI and has said that he finds good deals. I looked at BWI but could find any direct flights for the days I wanted to travel. Maybe they only fly direct on certain days of the week? After a couple bad experiences, we will only fly direct on international flights.
Re: Direct flights from mid-atlantic region?
Direct flights available out of Charlotte all days and times on US Air but you better have your wallet fattened up.For this Novembers trip $705.00PP RT is the lowest we have found and it comes and goes.

Looks like Southwest does have some pretty good deals for nonstop flights to MBJ. You can see the flights on the Southwest website, but they are not on Matrix.
Re: Direct flights from mid-atlantic region?
Airtran now Southwest took over the direct route that Air Jamaica used to fly. Awesome prices are there and I booked my Feb ticket - $339 for non stop BWI to MBJ AND we get 2 free bags AND you can change with no penalty.
Southwest flies daily from BWI to MBJ -- usually 2 flights down and 2 flights returning.
United out of Dulles flies a direct flight but it's on Saturday only and only during the winter months.
Re: Direct flights from mid-atlantic region?
USairways had good deals 2wks ago from DCA $340 roundtrip and BWI $335 roundtrip to MBJ!! you may also wanna look into Jetblue as well from BWI to MBJ they have an amazing service, but still I prefer Usairways.
