Just found out GP is closed sept and oct. Only found out today on Tripadvisor and called GP to confirm. Wasn't thrilled they never called to tell me since I was booked sept 16-21. HSH here I come. That is if GP doesn't try to hit me with a cancelation fee since I don't want to go to their beaches resort.

I'm a big fan of HSH, but just be aware that it is a different kind of property than Grand Pinapple. There is no AI option, and the resort is small with a small staff. However, the restaurant is great and the property is quaint, peaceful and secure. That said, sorry about the issues with GP and I hope you enjoy your stay at HSH!
Thanks mike!! I'm looking fwd to HSH. I was between the 2 when I was originally booking. Didn't really need the AI anyway. Going solo so doubt I'll be drinking that much (I'm a subs kinda guy anyway) and food wise I had planned to try as many places around negril as possible. Got a bunch of great ideas from that restaurant thread a few days ago.
Papa Georgie it was kinda cold but what can you do. I'm just glad I found out while I could still make changes. Would have been a pain doing all this when I got there. Just bothered that they are still taking reservations on the website as of today, even knowing they are closed.
Stayed at HSH a few years ago,nice place but really quiet.Terry was running the kitchen and bar and she was a sweetheart and let us party into the night,everyone else was in bed by 10pm.Not even close to Grand Pineapples agenda but it is close to lots of good places to eat and party.
Question for you guys. Now that I'm going to be cliff side, when I do head to the beach what's a good spot to go? Can you pay a day fee to go to another hotel beach or is everything opened? Prob seems like a dumb question as there are miles of beach, but ya never know.
To hit the beach, you can grab a taxi outside the hotel or ask the driver at hsh, if he's there. Should be no more than a $4
ride. You can chill at a number of places on the beach for free, if you buy a drink. I like Sun Beach for its chill, local vibe. There's also Margaritaville for the touristy vibe.
I'm in the same boat with the Oct closing of GP. I called GP to confirm our room and they mentioned it was closed all Oct and reservations would be transferred to Beaches Negril. I contacted Travelocity to confirm and they were clueless. 4 straight frustrating days of calling Travelocity and I still have no definitive answer or solution.
Did your travel agent transfer you to HSH or did you cancel GP and book it?
Been there, done that! We were bringing 5 couples down to The Pineapple in October 2 years ago. Heard that they were closing. They transferred us up to Beaches. I was very leery of doing the big AI but we had a ball there, (except for all of the kids). There was a lot of food choices and the service was great. We even talked Lindley into moving us into a beach side room. I will always book The Pineapple over Beaches but what the hell, a $5000.00 vacation for half price (or more). It worked for us.
