CORRECTION
The regular fees for Processing Application for Extension of Stay, Re-entry Visa and Registration still remain in force. To extend your stay past 90 days, the cost is still J$10,000. This has NOT changed.
The j$50,000 is for a new service, persons who wish to extend their stay beyond the Visa Exemption period. This is more for short term "business" stays for film crews, writers, artists, etc. who have already been issued a Visa Exemption.
And the increase in the permanent residency has been long overdue. It is now in line with other similar fees.

My take on it in the long run... whatever, for Jamaica it's still a bargain...their country so be it.

I agree Captain. I go exactly for 90 days at a time and just more frequently. I had a chance to get Residency back in 96 and decided against it. I love living in Jamaica but there are down sides for me that just make the 90 trips a better option. First, I have complete FREE health care as a Military Veteran here in the US and secondly; Jamaica has some limitations on what is available to purchase there.Quote:
