Sunset Heal Jamaica
Hello all. New to the forum and this is my first post. I have been considering a trip to the Negril area and a friend pointed me to this forum. My girlfriend and I are considering a 4 night stay at Sunset Heal Jamaica located in Shrewsbury, Westmoreland. I found a very good deal on Travelocity but have not been able to find much about the place itself. The reviews on Tripadvisor (only 7 of them) did not really give much information and I have not had much luck on Facebook either. I exchanged email with a gentleman that works there and he was pretty helpful. Just wanted to see if anyone had any experience staying there or anything they could offer.
Thanks for your time.

Re: Sunset Heal Jamaica
I just looked at their website. It looks like it will provide you with a beautiful feel of the Jamaican countryside and a very peaceful quite stay but you probably won't get the true feel of Negril because it is not Negril. I am not sure how far a ride it is but I am sure someone else on the board can help with that. It looks like a place I would love to retreat to some day so thank you for posting because I didn't know about it.

Re: Sunset Heal Jamaica
Thanks for the feedback. I am really a newbie regarding Jamaican travel/geography. We are always on a budget and I have been slow to commit to anything yet and the dates are right around the corner (this weekend and early next week) :)

Re: Sunset Heal Jamaica
New Moon Cottages like $40 a night. On the cliffs. David has been involved for the 30 years I have stayed there. No air condition but ceiling fans and safe. Just a thought

Re: Sunset Heal Jamaica
Sunset Heal Jamaica is way past Sav-La-Mar, which is about 25 minutes outside Negril. It is then about a half hour past Sav. It is off the "beaten track" and there are not many places nearby - no bars, restaurant, beach, etc. You pretty much stay at the resort. If you are looking for a place to "get away from it all" - this fits the bill.
But if you are looking for a vacation filled with meeting people, going to a concert show , spending time on the beach, eating at different places, visiting a bar or two (or more), then stick with Negril. There are many places to stay listed in our Hotels section.
