On verandah ‘cause the other night, while posting inside, with a small small lamp, a bunch of STRANGE Jamaican night-time bugs showed up …… attracted to the lamp light.

All these likkle Ja-kids NOT in school troubles me.
I’ve been asking them, WHY you not in school, and EVERY-time the response is:::>>> NO money… . for lunch, snacks, transportation. ‘Tis so so sad …… ‘cause ALL of ‘em are soooooooooooooooo ‘’..bright..’’

I’m STILL woking on that FRESH goat … curried goat party thing-y

Remember waaaaaaaaaaay back in early 2014 when I told you about the young-lady who wanted to rent land from landlord for a sports-bar..??..
If you recall [[ long story short ]]] she didn’t rent the land, from him blah blah blah …. Check the old post for details.
HOWEVER,
This trip
I was pleasant-ly surprised to *discover* that she DID find a spot …. Just down the road/lane… and is RIGHT NOW is doing a boom-ing business.

This young-lady …’but mid to late twenties is a REAL go-getter… a make her-dreams-come-TRUE type of person. If you ever meet her you’ll unna-stand what I’m telling you.

Well,
Tonight
I caught up with her and made a proposition:::>>> SHE get the goat and work out the details, particulars, etc, and I’ll pay for what-ever:::: which will probably just the goat, peas, rice and paper plates, plastic forks.

Told her::>> ‘’..ALL I want is a plate of food, and you can do whatever you want/like with the balance of the food..’’
She and her stepfather are gonna see if we can make this happen tomorrow… Saturday.

Am ‘spose to link with her in the morning ‘bout 8 AM …..she’s gonna be at her bar working on a new room.

One day when I figure-out a way to *explain* things,
I GOT TO tell you’s about the family relations thing-y down here
Family structure is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay *different* from what I and probably most-foreigners consider *normal*

It is NOT unusual to find a situation where a family will take in a child that is NO-kin to ‘em … no blood relation, no nuttin’

For some reason99 ??? )))m a *peer-rant* or a guardian will not be able to or want to care for a child, and some somebody will take them in, as their own … and raise ‘em.

This Jamaican practice is mind-blow-ing,
And hey do it soooooooooooooo matter –fact-ly

I thought, to myself::::>>> ‘’’…at the rate they’re going, they could build a one bedroom HOUSE in ‘bout 2-days..’’

Over the years we fed, clothed and educated about a dozen pickney. Everybody in the district knew that Miss G, Mas Captain and Miss Izel would be a refuge for a homeless pickney. Some drifted away after a bit but several are still "my boys" and Miss G's "girls" all in their 40's now
