Re: Island Cruiser Rentals
They went out of business years ago. It was an attempt to have a Jamaican made auto, which oddly enough we saw a yellow and purple pass us today.
It may have been an idea before its time....

Re: Island Cruiser Rentals
Here's the original idea from 1970. The Morris Mini-Moke. I actually had one. I was very good at being broken down.

Re: Island Cruiser Rentals
Yah man, the Mokie was the "idea" behind the Island Crusier. A Safari Type vehicle with removable doors and roof. Kind of like the WV Thing. The reason you still see some on the road today is that the creator of the vehicle built a heavy duty chassis and used Toyota engines and parts to create a hopefully viable vehicle. Although they have been out of business for years, you still see them on the roads in Negril! Even purple and yellow! (grin)
Re: Island Cruiser Rentals
I rented one years ago and drove the heck out of it all over the island. My only complaint was that the car itself was too wide for driving on narrow winding mountain roads.

Halfwaytree,
I always described it as driving a very big go-kart... (grin)
They were fun to drive!

Re: Island Cruiser Rentals
Nowadays I prefer something a bit more substantial for everyday use in the hills.
