We are leaving on Saturday, and need to be able to have contact with the States. Will my Verizon iphone4 with 3G work? We are staying in places with "free wifi". I also am concerned about receiving calls/texts/etc that I dont need to attend to, and dont want to pay for. Verizon has an int'l plan for $40--but will it get used up by unwanted data usage? This whole thing confuses me....
I can borrow a phone from our driver?

If you take your phone I would turn off all cellular and only use with wifi. Verizon's internationl plan sucks and if you don't turn off your cellular data you will come home to a very unpleasantly large cell bill. Other alternative is to go to digicell and get a cheap JA phone to use.
Or get a Digicel sim and data plan, very inexpensive. Otherwise put your phone in airplane mode and then turn wifi back on and just use the wifi.
