Be on the lookout "my daughter and her Deaf friends invade Pure Garden Resort
Calling all Boardies , Calling all Boardies:
Be on the lookout for Deaf American tourist.
Last seen boarding a plane for the Caribbean,
A gang of 7.
final destination Negril, Jamaica.
Ring leader: Martina,
a/k/a My angel.
5'3",
brown hair,
huge brown eyes.
Does not speak,
but her and her gang will be using Sign Language as their communication.
Well she did it folks.
After 3 visits to Jamaica with me, she finally left me here in the US.
Last trip I came out of my hotel room and saw her on the back
of someone's motorcycle.
They were barreling down the driveway of our hotel,
made a quick right turn and disappeared like a bat out of H---, down the beach road.
I was not myself until she came back 3 hours later.
"oh dad, we did this, and went there ,etc. etc.
Ok, ok, next time can you just........
then I thought about it.
Spur of the moment decisions makes life fun sometimes.
Especially for the young crowd.
She is confident, fearless and has a bigger imagination than me.
So, you may see 5-7 deaf people
(you will know them, they use sign language)
strolling around the beach area close to Pure Garden Resort.
Hold out your hand, palm facing her.
then put your thumb with an open hand to your forehead,
then give the OK sign.
this means "your Dad is ok".
She will get a kick out of that.
In the mean time I am chilling out in the cold.
That little whipper snapper, left me here in Chicago to freeze!
Wait till I get my hands on her , I'll.........
just love her some more. :-)

You sound like such a loving dad. :) Way braver than I am though. My daughter is only 11 and the thought of her someday riding on the back of a stranger's motorcycle in a different country (esp one with some real concerns about drugs, crime, etc.) would scare the bejeepers out of me. Not sure I'd ever let her travel without a bodyguard after that.
How long will she be there? We arrive in Negril in a few days so I could keep an eye out. Hope I remember the correct sign. :)

That's so sweet! Wish I were there, I'd be on the lookout for her. Alas... another week and a half till we make our way down. I'm sure she'll have a ton of fun with her friends- what an adventure!
Re: Be on the lookout "my daughter and her Deaf friends invade Pure Garden Resort
I am fluent in ASL and will be in Negril on Saturday. If I see them, I will tell them Dad says hi! : )
Re: Be on the lookout "my daughter and her Deaf friends invade Pure Garden Resort
Wish I was there to run into the crowd......I promise I wouldn't put her on the back of a bike.

Very cool Markospoon. Wish my adult kids and grand-kids weren't so enthralled with Disney.
