Wheelchair at MBJ Airport
Hi There,
I am hoping someone can help me here - I fractured my spine 11 months ago and had to have major surgery that required a spinal fusion and instrumentations (rods and screws) I am getting better with each day and each week. But the biggest problem I have is standing in one place for a long period of time - the back starts to stiffen. Because we arrive into MBJ at 2:30 (peak time) on a Saturday and have had to stand in line for immigration for over an hour the last few times we've arrived into MBJ. I've decided to request for a wheelchair for both arrival and departure - I do not want to spend my vacation in pain because of standing for a long period of time.
My question is, I will be traveling with three other people - will they be able to follow me?
Thanks!

Re: Wheelchair at MBJ Airport
when I have needed to use the service, only one travel companion has been allowed to go on ahead with me. Ask, but make plans to meet up after if they won't let you.
Re: Wheelchair at MBJ Airport
1 travel companion as stated, however I have been thru with two and three before snd only once was I rejected with more than one. Club Mobay is another option if you want to all stay together.
Re: Wheelchair at MBJ Airport
I would get Club MoBay for #3 and 4 so you can all get through together. No need for the wheelchair person and one other.

I travel using the wheelchair option on every trip which is often twice a year due to a medical condition.
Whenever I am traveling with someone, I always get to the outside before them. The Immigration Line has a special kiosk for wheelchairs thus circumventing the long Immigration Line and then there is a special area for Customs on the right side of the hall where you are taken. Quick. Quick. Only about 20 minutes average from the plane to the door.
I would just save my money and sit outside and wait for your friends either on the left side of the exit doors or the right side (decide that in advance).
This is what I do and it always seems to work just fine.
