Trying to Decide about Air fare, book now or wait??
Booking a trip for early May.
I have put in my V-days with the job.
Accommodations in Jamaica are set.
Just don't know if I should book my Airfare now or wait.
I heard Air fare could drop because folks are scared to fly to
Caribbean and other places due to
Zika Virus .
??????????????????

I'm going in April and was putting it off, checked friday was one fare, sunday was more than 60 bucks higher...got scared and booked....now kicking myself
Re: Trying to Decide about Air fare, book now or wait??
Depends on your choice of airlines and what their re-booking charges are. For example Southwest charges NOTHING to re-book a flight if the price drops. So we find a flight that works best for us, book it ASAP, watch for price reductions and then call them for a credit or refund.

Or the price of oil could drop further.
Or the price of oil could go back up.
Or the airlines could reduce flights because people aren't booking, so there would be fewer seats available and prices would rise.
You're in the same situation as ever: Get a sense of what is a reasonably good price for your route and season, and when you can get that, go ahead and book, then don't obsess about it. No matter what you do, somebody on the flight is going to have paid much less than you, and somebody is going to have paid more.

Just bought tix for Donna for early April and me for late April. Prices were down $100 on Delta from a week or two ago so I jumped.

Thanks all.
wrtiii, that makes sense, will not obsess.
Captain Oil, did not know this.
I do fly with SW, so I will not lose anything if prices fall. Thanks!
But, I gotta keep an eye on those rates.

I book my tickets and try hard to never go back and look again. I did look this time and the price had gone up over $350! So...I felt a hundred times better and refuse to look another time.

Prices change several times a week for flight prices. I check daily and book when the prices drop. I find the lowest prices are usually on Tuesdays. But not always.

When fare shopping it's best to check daily. Best price I ever got was from a random search on a Saturday night. These days I pick my itinerary and set up price alerts. When I get a number I like I buy.
