Exchanging money for Canadians
Just got back from 10 day trip, I did not bring any US money. I opened a Scotiabank account here and only too money out at the ATM,s no fee,s at a rate of right around $85 to $1 Canadian. The Cambio rate was $79, $80. It's stil much more expensive as a Canadian but this is the best way to save a few bucks.
Re: Exchanging money for Canadians

That's what I thought loonies and toonies were for. How many of those do I have to "Exchange" with someone to buy or rent a Canadian? After all, the thread was titled "Exchanging money for Canadians" wasn't it? Attachment 44750

The closest ATM to Grand Pineapple would be located at the Time Square Mall...the second would be downtown Negril near the Value Master grocery.

That's all we have ever done. Except we arrive with enough US cash to pay for transfer from airport and a small stack of 1's for tips. Scotiabank has ATMs all through Mexico and the caribbean, no need to arrive with a wad of cash.
Re: Exchanging money for Canadians
Luckily for us; Linda is a server at a Niagara Falls Canada restaurant near the Falls and receives some U.S. dollar tips. Enough this past `season` to pay for our two weeks accomodation and airport transfers and other stuff. We did go to the bank machine near Burger King in the Riverside Plaza (our Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce affiliated machine) and withdrew 30 thousand dollars; three times and saved a lot of money compared to using other machines or a Cambio. Only twice did we go to a Cambio and it was purely for convenience sake on the way from the airport to Negril. Our driver had to pick up a television at Court`s in Mo-Bay and there was a Cambio across the road. They were only paying 80 J per Canadian dollar compared to 85 in Negril at that time in early to mid January. We had a hundred or so American left after the hotel and transfers and changed it at the FX traders next to Hi Lo and received a decent rate as well compared to Montego Bay.

I negotiated my transfers in $Ja. As well. Just be aware the ATM at Time Square runs out of money quite often, a trip into town is often necessary. There are Scotiabank atm,s beside the Texaco in Mobay just before the Hilo Kfc corner . There is also one in front beside the Petcom out by the craft market, Negril Aerodome.
