Celebrating the holidays Jamaican style.....need suggestions.
Celebrating Jamaica week at our nursing home I work at was such at hit that I have been given the task of organizing a Holiday Jamaican party between Christmas and New Years.....is there any special foods that are a Jamaican staple during the holidays? Dirty bananas are already on the menu......those were a hit this summer.....
Any suggestions will be appreciated...

If you can get your hands on some sorrel...the drink (often with a bit of rum) is very popular over the holiday season...it is THE Christmas drink.

Here's our sorrel crop for the holidays. I like mine with strong ginger and white rum!

Rum punch & ginger beer is popular...Ting & rum is easy
Food offerings...curry goat, mannish water :) , ham, Christmas cake, rice & pea, oxtail, banana bread, you could always make jerk or brown stew chicken...

here's a recipe for sorrel - you can use fresh or dried sorrel as noted in recipe. If you have a Caribbean store in your area, you should be able to buy dried sorrel.
