Been hearing the same thing from other drivers. The consensus is that this is great for St. James. There are tourists out and about, walking the Hip Strip and having a wonderful time! I feel sorry about that travel agent cancelling Bluez's friends trip. But I am sure that they were just erring on the side of caution.
I guess I could be wrong, however it seems to me that it would be safer now having the increased Military/Police presence in the parrish.
Criminals are likely keeping their heads down in an effort to not be found. Hopefully the local residents will feel protected enough to help the security forces with the roundup.
I land in 13 days and have no more concern about travelling than I normally would.
We flew out yesterday afternoon. Aside from the checkpoint coming into the parish nothing out of the norm. Safe travels.Quote:

No problem. From what my wife and I observed and experienced last week, a trip to Negril is as safe as ever. It would be a real shame if the Jamaican people who depend so much on tourism suffer due to unfounded fears.Quote:

I booked my trip two days before leaving so January 19th and not one bit worried... the media blows things out of proportion a bit.
