"As the World Cup heats up in Russia, hundreds of thousands of soccer fans are running around the country, drowning their bitter sorrows and celebrating their raucous victories in tall glasses of cold beer. Unfortunately, the beer keeps running out. Somehow, Russia did not see this madness coming.

Reuters reports that some bars and restaurants in Moscow are out of beer, and that deliveries are taking longer than usual. And no vodka for these fans; they're pretty much just drinking beer.

“We just didn’t think they would only want beer,” said one waiter from Moscow, whose restaurant ran out of draft lager on Monday and is waiting up to 24 hours for fresh deliveries."

Out of beer?! That would cause a state of emergency in my house!

Very hard for me to watch soccer without a beer or six.

They should have come to Negril instead!

Every time my wife and I discuss attending a major sporting event I ask her if she'd rather pay big bucks to see the event live or watch it on the beach in Negril. For example, I'd rather spend a week in Negril and watch the Super Bowl on the beach versus staying two nights and watching the game live.

On a side note my wife wants us to go for a weekend in Nashville this fall--I want to go to Catcha. For what I am going to pay for two nights hotel downtown I could stay 5 nights at Catcha. Oh well, happy wife happy life.

Wisconsin Badger football fans are used to this. IIRC they bought all of the beer in Pasadena and in Las Vegas when they played bowl games there.

Very true Homebrewer! That's why we need to be at the game 4 hours early to get a head start on the beer ;)
