china man store in the news

looks like one of the last old timers is in trouble in Negril according to Jamaica observer. ( hopefully the link works)...not many of the old time places left, no conch soup at wharf club, no pay phone at yatch club but still chicken at chicken lavish.....
Re: china man store in the news
Expiry dates are some what arbitrary designations by the Mfgr and obviously favor them. That said, I was bottle fed and who knows what all they put in it the formula in 1948. I remember seeing dates on food supplies on my Navy ship in 1971 with a pack date in the early '50s. Do you think that ground beef was beyond the expiry date? No wonder it was tasteless!
Re: china man store in the news
I'm thankful someone is finally doing a proper cleanup of some of these places. I've never understood anyone shopping at this "Chinamon" store and always cringed when it was recommended.
No worries as far as Chicken Lavish is concerned...I've been in Doc's kitchen a few times and it's always beyond immaculate...Yummo!!
Re: china man store in the news
Yeah..but the beer is cheap..lol
Re: china man store in the news
don't want to be misunderstood, I was mentioning things that aren't there anymore not refer to any kind of cleanliness. chicken lavish was, is and will always be a fine place to eat and I do . I don't always write to goodly and do not want to disparage a Negril longtime establishment that we all love just remembering when that was the only store in town
Re: china man store in the news
No worries, Redground...I understood...I just appreciate the cleanliness of Doc's kitchen...

They are no longer in trouble and are correcting the problems! The first thing you notice are the electricians working hard by the front door to get the current up to code. Second, you notice no odd smell that has permeated the store for the longest while!

Those Electricians have their work cut out for them. That panel looked pretty scary!
I’ve often bought cases of beer and wata there. I’m sure a few snacks or chips as well. Whatever don’t kill you makes you stronger, or maybe all that rum killed off the cooties.
