Pontoon off the beach facing Alfred’s or the Grand Pineapple?
Hello bordies,
I’ll be making a second trip to Negril next week. Last time around, in 2015 we stayed at Rooms. A few hundred yards off the beach, into the water, facing Alfred’s or the Grand Pineapple, was a pontoon I’d swim to every morning. I was just wondering if it’s still there? I can’t seem to find any mention of it anywhere.

Thank you Rob!
Your video brings back happy memories of our last trip. Having the Sunnyside, Rasta Ade and Kamaras right next to the hotel & on the beach was what made us decide to go back to Rooms. We'll be asking for a room facing Woodstock this time around. Hearing the roosters behind Sunnyside at 4am was not pleasant to say the least.

You have to get used to the roosters. They crow at all hours so if yours only crowed at 4:00am you were lucky :biggrin-new: The one in my yard crows all the time.

I'm a light sleeper, they just keep me up at night. On our last trip which lasted 10 days, I didn't get used to them.
I'm sure it would be different if I had to hear them on a regular basis. We do get used to the noise in the city when we live there.

In Jamaica it was traditional that the “cock of the walk” in the yard (alpha rooster) was named Mas Percy.
Mas Percy was the one who would start the crowing at night. Usually the trigger was another rooster on the other side of the the hill. This would kick off a twenty minute chorus from all around the valley.
Another tradition was that once a year you got to eat Mass Percy. By that time there was a “little” Percy that was already challenging Mas Percy for being the BMOC.
With every bite you remembered the 4:00 AM wake up call he’d do.
One time we had visitors from the states and for whatever reason it was decided we’d cook Mas Percy for diner.
Can you imagine 4 Americans from the Northeast trying to run down a rooster on foot over 6 acres? .......................They also enjoyed eating him.
It was a wonderful night

If something was crowing outside my window every morning at 4am, it wouldn’t take me a year to kill it!
