How are they right now? Yes, I know, still annoying etc. but are there many and are they carrying any nasty diseases? Hope not but I have bug spray in case.

I’m On the beach, haven’t seen any. Did get stung by a Jamaican beach wasp though...
Mosquitos can carry dengue fever, so it's best to protect yourself. I don't know about Negril but there are a lot of them in the rural part of Westmoreland where I live. If you do get dengue, go to a local doctor - it just needs bed rest and possibly supportive treatment like IV rehydration, which Jamaican medicine is quite capable of treating. Don't try to fly home, since in the US, at least the northeast, they never see dengue and have no clue about it (and you don't want to be flying when sick with dengue).
Richard (who's been through it!)
Sue...I'm not finding mosquitos that bad right now anywhere here...and I'm generally a magnet!
Thanks everyone. I wanted to know to be prepared. Lisa, if we got together noone would have to worry about them! I can douse myself but the little buggers find the 1mm of skin i missed! :biggrin-new:
What is the dengue situation?
From a prevention perspective...they've increased fogging around the island & dispatched professionals looking for areas that require “search and destroy” activities to eliminate breeding sites.
Only from personal knowledge...we aren't hearing as many "dengue stories" lately...but...
prevention is best, of course...avoid the fever & wear your mosquito spray. :encouragement:
