Jamaicans helping Jamaicans!
From the Observer:
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — Over 2,000 residents in and around the resort town of Negril turned out this morning to receive food packages valued at approximately $3 million which was made possible through a joint venture of the Negril Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) through the Tourism Linkages Network.
Under the initiative, the TEF purchased groceries and ground provisions directly from displaced farmers and delivered them in Negril while the chamber organised and packaged the items. Grace Kennedy and Hi-Lo Supermarket also participated in providing some items free.
Over 30 police personnel from the parish of Hanover and Westmoreland volunteered their service while another 30 volunteers from the chamber, the Rotary Club of Negril and residents participated.

When Rob and I drove over the bridge and approached the community centre around 7:20am...the line up was already huge. It was an overwhelming & heartwarming feeling at the same time!
