This article is pretty interesting. Seems that National Rum makes rum in bulk and then companies blend/age the rum as they see fit, producing their own product from that bulk rum made by National:

I have no doubt the best rum in the world comes from Jamaica!
I bought a bottle of this for $24.99 and tried it last night. So smooth and flavorful and not as sweet as many fine rums. The bad thing is it goes down so easily and is so good the cost of my rum habit may go up. Great stuff.
Just picked up a bottle for $21 at my neighborhood liquor store. Very complex, very dry, easy sipping! Still love my Appleton 12 but this is a nice addition to the cabinet.
