Covid Testing only for some Visitors....
From the Observer:
"Holness said non-nationals visiting Jamaica for tourism will be subject to testing if they are assessed as high-risk either as a result of coming from countries designated as high risk for COVID-19 transmission based on classification by the World Health Organization, or due to other risk factors such as exhibiting symptoms or exposure to people who have tested positive.
Individuals assessed as high risk will have their samples taken at the airport or other designated facility and await their test results at their hotel or resort under the 'stay in zone' measure. If the test is negative, they would remain under the 'stay in zone' measure. However, if the test is positive, they would be isolated either at the hotel/resort or in a government facility as determined by the health authorities.
Those not assessed as high risk will be allowed to go to their hotel/resort under the 'stay in zone' measure. This means they are required for the duration of their stay in Jamaica to remain within the COVID-19 resilient corridor, the prime minister said."
Now it seems we are back to what was originally meant in the 119 page guide... stay tuned for more!

Rob, I was wondering if you might know the answer to this question. What if the person coming in has had the COVID-19 and recovered prior to traveling?
Would the test show them in need of a quarantine? Just wondering. Thanks. Peace and Guidance.
Re: Covid Testing only for some Visitors....
all these changes and requirements confuses and threatens the confidence people and businesses have in Jamaica....
now the PM is saying go to visitjamaica.com and fill out this form or otherwise you won't be allowed entry to Jamaica....
this online application form tells you if you are being allowed or denied entry....
however the earliest you know that is 4 days before you leave for your vacation.....not good
filling out forms.....wearing masks.....being tested....being restricted in your movements.....isn't a vacation
Jamaica needs to keep it simple......otherwise Jamaica is only going to see a trickle of tourist...…
way too many hoops and restrictions for going on vacation and spending $2,000 to $5,000+...….
people will just stay home or go somewhere else on their vacations....
Cool Runnings, Marko

This is not an antibody test, so your test should show negative...

Thanks. What I thought. Peace and Guidance
Re: Covid Testing only for some Visitors....
A trickle of tourists is what the government has wanted all along during this 2 week Phase 1 test period. The borders are open but the island in general is not for visitors, just the "corridor".
As of Wednesday, only about 140 business entities had been certified by TPDCo as COVID Resilient. A business needs that certification to allow tourists to visit their property.
A total of 6000 visitors in 2 weeks for the entire island is less than what Negril gets in one week any week during busy season.
This is a way to test the protocols in a measured manner so as to not overwhelm the system. Holness lost his cool about a week ago when a journalist asked about the "massive influx of tourists on the 15th". He tore off his mask and basically asked the journalist what planet are they living on.
It was a tremendous moment for a live press conference.... LOL
Re: Covid Testing only for some Visitors....
I just want to say "Thank you" for sifting through all the facts, rumors and nonsense to give us the most complete picture of what is currently happening, about to happen and what the government hopes will happen.
It is invaluable for us that don't have the time to do it ourselves.
Respect.
Re: Covid Testing only for some Visitors....
Would that mean that tourist from the US would pretty much guarantee to be tested?
Re: Covid Testing only for some Visitors....
Until the 30th, yes, the US does not have COVID under control yet... same with the UK...

Or possibly Jamaica will establish itself as a place where you can enjoy the beach for a couple of weeks and feel safe. There are a lot of us in high risk categories.
