Let's hope other countries (USA, UK, et al.) don't follow suit!
Unfortunately, the latest stats for Jamaica are not trending well and new covid cases are on the rise. I hope it turns in the other direction soon...

DAMN!! I heard that today on the news here. Looks as if I won't get there now until Christmas - fingers crossed.
Uk,
Testing services in Jamaica have been increasing exponentially, the more testing, the more positive and negative results. If any country tests more, there must be an increase in positive cases. That is obvious as well as misleading.
A more reliable stat is the mortality rate. Based on per million, the USA is at 1344 per million. Canada is at 521 per million. Jamaica is at 116 per million. Jamaica is over ten times safer than the USA and almost exactly 5 times safer than Canada.

Not sure of the accuracy but this site shows a big drop in cases in JA yesterday .
Due to the increased testing, on Wednesday there was 194 new positive cases, 2 deaths, on Thursday there was 27 new positives, and 1 death.
On Wednesday there were nearly 1600 tests, 1385 negative... some showed no result and have to redone.
On Thursday there were 483 tests, 456 negative. Testing numbers truly mean little...

And hats off to the Ministry of Health - they have done an amazing job!
