Stopping at Grocery Store on way to hotel
So we usually get picked up by family but we’re taking the Idle Awhile shuttle from the airport to hotel. Would it be appropriate to ask the driver to make a grocery and liquor stop on the way back and if so what would be a reasonable tip? Like $40 US? Thank you! BA
Re: Stopping at Grocery Store on way to hotel
I called Idle Awhile and they said of course the driver can stop at Mega Mart or Progressive Supermarket.
They just suggested that you tip the driver depending on how long you shop.

BethAnn ... is Idle Awhile shuttle complimentary?
Re: Stopping at Grocery Store on way to hotel
The airport shuttle is not. It’s like 90 dollars each way I believe.

Rob, is it ok to have our friend pick us up or do we still need to use covid certified travel because that would save us a ton of money.

I feel that you are one of the special cases. Since your husband was born here and I assume has proof (passport, ID, etc), it would be easy for him to prove that the driver is actually his friend.
For visitors to Jamaica, it is virtually impossible to "prove" a driver is your friend no matter how long they have "known" each other. At best the police would look at this situation as acquaintances. Thus the requirement for a legal red plate taxi is needed.
Being from here does have its advantages!

Correct, Jamaican passport. Kemar, the driver, is actually our daughter’s Godfather. Not that that matters lol.
