Changes at Negril Beach Club Condos Bar
The good news is the new bar Sand Box Bar on NBCC's property is closer to the ocean, has a cool set up with a reasonably priced lunch menu (by beach standards), and has excellent wifi. If someone is looking for a spot to grab a quick wrap or curried or brown stewed chicken and a drink while using the beach this is a good spot. The wifi at the bar is excellent. They play music and with it being closer to the water it does have more of that Caribbean feel to it than the original bar closer to the pool and farther back on the beach. It also appeals more to beach walkers to stop for a drink as it is right on the beach rather than set back off it and the view from this spot has always been a good one for sunsets as well as sunrises.
The bad news is the original bar doesn't appear to be in operation anymore. They opened the windows on it each day and there is still some inventory in the bar itself but over the course of 9 days and 8 nights I was never able to order a drink and no pool side service is available anymore as the other bar is too far away. Sadly Jason "Big Red" is no longer there and has moved onto Negril Palms. I am hopeful that in peak season they will staff both bars. Though I love Sandbox it was nice to have the bar right by the pool and the sitting area is nice there with a nice view of the beach. I understand that from a labor cost perspective it probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense to staff both bars unless there is enough volume to accommodate both though.

Thank you for the update. There was talk a couple of years ago of removing most of the old bar. It would be very nice to have a beach view from the pool and the hotel block. We will definitely miss Jason during our winter stay. The good news is we can easily visit him while staying at idle Awhile this November.

The best talk I had heard was redoing the pool and that bar turning it into a swimup bar type setup with an ocean view. I think ultimately that was a pipe dream with costs to do such a project being prohibitive but one can always hope. Until then the swimup bar at Travellers is a nice place to spend the day if the ocean is rough or murky from the river rain out.

Does anyone have pictures of the new bar?

Thanks for the photos. Looks good!
Will be staying at Travellers in October and will check it out
Re: Changes at Negril Beach Club Condos Bar
It looks exactly like the bar at Sun Beach except it appears to be built on a large concrete pad.
