Looking for a Dispensary? Try the original, Tedd's Miss Brown's!
For decades, Tedd's Miss Brown's have been taking care of our visitors who would like to take a trip in Negril without leaving Negril. Originally Miss Brown's Mushroom Tea, a young Tedd helped work in the kitchen and learned everything about mushrooms from the original source! When Miss Brown retired it was the obvious move for Tedd to take over the business since he grew up and learned it from the Master herself.
This is Tedd's current offerings, and he guarantees all his edibles. If your first purchase was not strong enough or too strong, he will make you a new batch. But that generally never happens, because Tedd will ask you several questions so what you receive is exactly what you desire.

I have known Tedd for about 35 years. Here are a couple throwback links to our Negril.com archive.

Tedd and I the same age and we are over 25 years older than these pages. I have had many of his offerings, my favorite is the mushroom tea. The first time I tried his tea I liked so it much I asked for another cup, that tea tasted excellent. Tedd looked at me and just laughed. He told me never have more than one cup of the "see God" strength.

I've forgotten many good times at Mrs. Brown's, but I can still remember the layout of the place.

Back in the very old days Miss Brown's shop was located on a grassy field just to the right of the roundabout heading towards the West End. I do not remember exactly what other products (food or otherwise) were for sale. It was a typical wooden board structure / shack that was common in Negril in those days. I'll have to look and see if I have some old photos. If my memory is correct the tea was a grey concoction and flavored with sweetened condensed milk. I found it very difficult to get it down. It was a pleasant buzz but thereafter I ate raw mushrooms in salads or omelets instead. They never tasted good but I found eating them better than drinking them. Perhaps over the years the tea became better tasting but that is my experience.

It was nasty stuff to consume. They gave it to us in a rum bottle or soft drink bottle depending on the amount. When I went the first time it was left at the roundabout toward Sav with I think two shacks built together. Ted fixed us up.

I remember in the mid-80's there was a row of little wooden stands right on the beach. I think every other one was selling shrooms picked in the hills early in the morning and for sale on the beach soon thereafter. I had forgotten about that. I think the Top Rankin' kept an eye on everything from a shady spot in the tree line and all was well.

Rob, thanks for this post. 1998 was my first visit. I stayed at the Old Negril Yacht Club (run by Chuck (?) and Donna at that time). When I look back now I was so green in all things Negril. This memory tickler is great.
Thanks,
Mickey
