TSA Warns Against Using Public USB Ports
TSA's Updated Warning for Travelers
Avoid Public USB Charging Ports. The TSA urges travelers not to plug phones directly into public USB ports at airports.
Use your own TSA-Compliant Power Sources. Bring your own TSA compliant power brick or battery pack to charge safely.
Juice Jacking is when a hacker can install spyware or access data when a phone is plugged into compromised public USB ports.
Choice Jacking is a newer, more advanced threat where attackers trick phones into enabling data transfer via deceptive screen prompts bypassing built-in protections.
Adrianus Warmenhoven (NordVPN) warns that public USB ports should never be considered safe. Choice jacking is described as a "dangerous evolution" of juice jacking. "With a single deceptive prompt, attackers can trick people into enabling data transfer, potentially exposing personal files and other sensitive data."

Since the TSA doesn't recommend using the plane's wifi, I would skip the usb port and use the charger that came with the device.
