I'm here now
We arrived in Montego Bay yesterday afternoon and Michael's On time taxi picked us up for our trip to Negril. There was a lot of destruction between MoGo and Green Island, but less as you get closer to Negril. Normally we stay on the cliffs but there is still no electric on the west end so we decided to stay at Coco la Palm. They run on a generator from 5 PM until 1 PM the next day. Everything runs smooth except no A\C. Charela and Travelers are also both open running on generators. Contact your favorite beach hotel to see if they are up and operating. We walked into town today and went to HiLo. They seem to be pretty well stocked on food. The downtown cambio was open, 151 JD to one US. We made note of all the small restaurants on the beach road that were open. They all wanted more tourists to come. We had dinner tonight at Best of the West and they were actually fairly crowded. The food was very good and they were appreciative of our business. Coco has kept many of their staff employed and the service has been excellent. Everyone keeps hoping for electric to come on, but no definitive time frame has been set. We did not see any trucks working on that problem today. The beach has been fairly empty almost like we have it to ourselves. Except for the no a\c Coco has been great. As a side note, we did not come here to help rebuild Jamaica. We came to spend money, and everyone in Negril is thankful of that. Hopefully I can get a few photos posted, but Negril was spared a lot of the destruction of some of the small towns in the area received.
Regards,
Bob
