How true! I was in Ocho Rios in 1993 for the elections and it was terrifying. Like fools, we left early that morning for a round of golf in Runaway Bay. On the way back we saw armed roadblocks, burning truck tires blocking roads, and listened on the radio to reports of gunmen going into polling places and shooting the electors and stealing the ballot boxes. Our hotel eventually closed its gates, forbade guests to leave the property and somehow armed the groundskeepers with shotguns.
This time....all I see/hear are reasonable discussions and people happy to debate without shouting or violence.....
...yes Captn...I am fascinated by democracy in action - active participation is refreshing and I admire the passion too.
