We will be taking down a newbie and staying on the cliffs. The newbie would like to fish from the cliffs. What type of lures should he bring. He has a portable collapsible rod.

I take a collapsible rod with me.I've fished from the cliffs and find bait best. Shrimp , conch etc. Weight with a hook with or without a bobber. The cliffs are too high for casting. If you get on a boat, Rapala or twitch type lures would be great. Deep diving crank baits would be best.Any bass crankbait works well.Early morning is the best time.Get your shrimp and conch from the seafood market right past the roundabout. Fresh is best. Have your friend bring down hooks, sinkers and bobbers.
What types of fish do you catch?
Better off with a very early morning boat trip. Vincent, among others, will go "pin hooking" for bottom dwellers, or go trolling for tuna long before most people see him making the morning "want to go snorkeling, Mon?" run. Trolling with bamboo outriggers and plastic soda bottle reels is something a fisherman should not to miss!http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/c...ds/vincent.jpg
WOW Dicky...and I thought split bamboo was going old school......Pin Hooking if OFF DA HOOK! (pun intended)
Lots of ways to fish ----> bamboo out-riggers: 20' lengths of bamboo, eye hook at the end, wedge 'boo under seat and over rail, run hand line thru eye ---> instant outriggers !
