Beaches Sandy Bay
Hello, boardies!
I have an amazing chance to stay at this resort for a real bargain.
I know where it is on the map, but:
1. Is it a nice place?
2. Will my Jamaican friends be welcome?
3. If I rent a scooter I can be in Negril in how long from this spot?
Any experiences, info, and inside knowledge appreciated.
Thanks!

Yes, it's a nice place. Do you like Sesame Street? I didn't mind the Sesame Street characters and kind of got a kick out of them. Rooms aren't fancy, but the beach there is lovely. Great staff. Food and drinks, IMO, are really good for an AI, plus you have all the amenities at Beaches Negril. Not sure they allow guests. You might have to get a day/night pass for them, which might be spendy. That's something you might want cleared up before committing. It's located on Bloody Bay. I've walked from Beaches Negril to Beaches Sandy Bay and back many times, so it shouldn't take you long to get around on the scooter. If you can get a really good deal, I'd say go for it. Did you try getting reservations at Grand Pineapple and they were already booked or something? I know they send people there sometimes.

Nice place away from much activity. Your friends will not be welcome.

I've heard enough....thanks!

Ok Brasi I booked Grand Pineapple a few years back when I arrived, "sir you didnt recieve an email, you been upgraded to Beaches Sandy Bay" only my son I was travelling with was excited, so last year I took another crack at it on a solo trip, when I arrived to check in I told the girl at the dsek, I hope your sending me to F#$@ing Elmo land, lmao. I explained she laughed. Any way if your travelling with kids its fine, need I say more. ( maybe a few milfs around though.)

Thanks. I love MILFS. I myself hope I am a DILF. I think. But the guest thing...it kills me. Deal breaker.
I have old Jamaican friends. I will likely make new Jamaican friends. I should be able to invite them over, if they register, and I am willing to be responsible for their behavior. This has been discussed ad nauseum, so I hope I'm not stirring that pot again.
But I won't pay to stay at a place that is not open to my friends coming over if I choose to have them there (under whatever rules/guidelines are established by the resort).

Most AI,s will only let guests in on a day pass, for like $75 and if they are local they must proivide photo ID.

That's ok...I was not feeling great about the AI anyway...I spend around the same or less eating in different places...tx for the info!

AI,s are definitely not the way to go for me on solo trips, last time I stayed at Grand Pineapple, I only ate breakfast there missed all the rest of the food, except passing through to my room for a shower grabbed a quick plate from the beach barbq.

Yes, was thinking it probably wouldn't work for you, Brasi. It worked for me because staying at an AI is so easy with kids. I'd still stay solo there though, if the price was right (which never happens). Will have dinner with my local friends and then do some bar hopping a couple nights while I'm there, but usually don't invite people back to my room. Have had them visit at CCLP before and that was no problem. But I don't go there to _______. Well, I might be guilty of having some _________ and doing a little ________.
