Thru the eyes of my daughter

Ive never experience this before because where I grew up, not everyone went away for spring break but my daughter (15 yrs old) came home the other day and says to me "Mom, my friend told me she would never stay at a 3 star hotel" - I didnt know what to say. Her friends parents own a condo in Riviera Maya and go there every chance they can. Granted, they have more money than I do but aside from that, we take our teens with us on our winter break trips every year - and they know how lucky they are! We tried to think of a comeback but were dumbfounded. I tried to reassure her that we would be ok at Fun Holiday - clean room and bathroom and she said to me "don't worry mom - I told her we know where to go in Negril and where the best spots are so it doesn't matter how pretty the hotel is - we will be chillin on the beach and my mom doesnt have cook or clean!" ...what a great kid I have! only 5 sleeps!

I am so very proud of my girls - I know they would never belittle anyone. Fortunately for us, they love Negril as much as we do.

Stayed at Fun Holiday with my 7 and 9 year old at new year and they thought it was great!

Looks like some good parenting is happening to me. Keeping kids humble and exposing them to the world so that they can become cultured and open minded can only help them grow into great adults. Not everyone is raising their kids to feel entitled.

The whole "star" thing is a pet peeve of mine. People can be so pretentious about ratings, they just don't seem to understand that ratings are usually based on amenities offered. I don't need a lap pool/tennis court/golf course/etc. where I stay.
