Need Honeymood West End Advice
Hi everyone - I was curious if you could help me with a few questions.
I have been to Negril twice. Once I stayed beachside at Country Country. Last time we stayed at Xtabi in 2009.
We are thinking of heading back for our honeymoon in April 2013.
We had a wonderful time at Xtabi but I was curious how it was now. Is still really nice or has it gotten run down? I remember out cottage was wonderful but we never used the pool across the street because it was rather dismal.
We are also looking at Catcha & Samsara. I have not seen either in person but was curious at either which would be the best rooms/cottages for a honeymoon?
We love the private feel, outdoor shower, deck to jump in the ocean, sun deck, a good bar onsite, etc...
Any input or recommendations?

For a honeymoon I would say Catcha or Tensing Pen. You will want to book soon though as both places are in high demand. Negril One Stop has great videos and pictures for you to check out each place. For Catcha I would recommend Sagi or Libra.

For honeymoon I would recommend the following places to look at:
Catcha Falling Star
Tensing Pen
Rockhouse
Villa Sur Mer
They all have what you are looking for and are all fabulous properties.
If you want private I would pick Tensing Pen or Villas Sur Mer as they would be the most private of the choices as they do not have restaurant/bars open to the public like Catcha and Rockhouse do so there will be less traffic in and out of the resort.
Catcha is my all time favorite property (where we booked our wedding and where we now stay almost exclusively) and Sagi is my favorite room of all
We honeymooned at Tensing Pen in the Rock Cottage II and it was amazing
The Deluxe Villas at Rockhouse are awesome and are very similar to the Rock Cottage II at Tensing Pen

what she said lol
I've stayed at both Samsara and Catcha.....there are no comparing the two. Samsara is great, if you're on a budget and looking for minimal...everything.
Catcha is for a honeymoon, its just special. :)

maybe the Penthouse at Blue Cave Castle would suit you, it's not expensive at all, has lots of privacy up there (3 private decks) Teddy's Hideaway for great meals either in your penthouse or anywhere else on the grounds and PeeWees is right next door(practically) for drinks/fun

If you can get Catcha, GRAB IT NOW! I made my honeymoon plans 9 months in advance, and Catcha was STILL totally booked. :( I hope you have better luck than I did!

I am all for Catcha. Just got back from there Saturday. I cried when I left & we are already planning another trip. The people there are outstanding. Actually met a couple who sneaked over from Tensing Pen... they told me the service was not good. Maybe just them, I don't know... they seemed normal to me. I just can't say enough about Catcha... food, vibe, the peace, the ocean, the view, the people... OMG, just too much for me to take! :)
My view...

Re: Need Honeymood West End Advice
Woo - thanks everyone! Time to do some digging on availability. We are flexible on dates as we don't need to leave like the day after our wedding. We are in FL and getting married on the beach and lots of people are flying in and staying at the same hotel so we can hang there a few days and then take off. So if a place is booked, we can push it a week or two if needed. Thanks so much for all the advice :)
Re: Need Honeymood West End Advice
I have to agree with everyone that suggested Catcha Falling Star. It’s the best choice for what you’re looking for:
I made this video after my last trip there. Watch it if you need extra convincing:

If you’re on a budget, I recommend the Pisces. It has a nice deck, hammock, cute room (small but sweet) and a shower that is open on the top so you can look up at the stars. Not quite a full outdoor shower but very close. Markus and I fell in love with Pisces.
If you can afford to splurge a bit, go with Sagi – It’s AMAZING! I was lucky to have certain friends staying there so I got to hangout there a few nights. It’s incredible.
I also have to throw in a vote for Villa Sur Mer. We stayed there for our 10 year wedding anniversary. It was also magical!
Good luck with whatever you choose! Hope you have a wonderful Honeymoon:)
Re: Need Honeymood West End Advice
Between Samsara and Catcha, Catcha wins hands down but like Homebrewer I recommend the penthouse at the Blue Cave Castle. We have stayed there many times and were married there in 2007 and are going back in December for our anniversary. Not pricey, not fancy, just perfect!
