No plane change for a one stop layover
Has anyone ever had a layover where you didn't have to change planes from MBJ back home? You stayed on your original flight from MBJ. I am asking because I have a layover in Charlotte coming back to ORD from MBJ. I don't have to leave the plane if I don't want to. I am wondering if I can purchase alcohol at Sangster to bring back home with no problems. I called the airline and the rep stated that I could purchase alcohol at Sangster and bring it on the plane.
I wanted to put this question on here to see if anyone has done this.
Thank you in advance. :)
Re: No plane change for a one stop layover
I'm sure you'll have to deplane since this would be your first port of entry from Jamaica. When you get off in Charlotte, you'll have to go through immigration/customs, collect your luggage and then re-check. You'll need to put the alcohol in your checked luggage before re-checking it.

Yes, Lovechild is correct in that you will have to go through customs in Charlotte and then go through security once again.
Even if it is a "one-stop" flight with the same flight number, most instances you end up on a different plane anyway.
Re: No plane change for a one stop layover
My experience was as Lovechild said. I had to deplane. The alcohol I bought from Jamaica came with me on that first flight. Once I got to the first stop (layover) I had to re-check my bags and put the booze in my checked luggage.
