I need a wedding planner

My fiance & I would like to start planning a wedding in Negril for December 2013. I looked at all of the resort wedding packages, but they seem so impersonal. I want to be able to pick my own colors, my own cake, & most importantly - my own photographer. We have not booked a room anywhere, & will probably have about 30 guests, so I need a planner who can help negotiate group rates at a resort even though we won't be purchasing one of their wedding packages. I filled out the request form on www.negriljamaicaweddings.com, but I haven't heard back. Does anyone have any suggestions for planners in Negril? I would like to email with a couple different planners so I can get different estimates, & go with the one the best suits our needs & budget.

Hi Fayemoon, My girlfriend and i are getting married in negril in feb and we have been using Jamaica Elegant Weddings. Dawn there has been very helpful there are alot of good reviews. And the price is cheap if you ask me we have 20 people coming we are renting a catamaran for 4 hrs open bar and food with the wedding and hair and makeup for her is about 2800us. To me that is a good price It was alot cheaper till we started renting boats and food. Check it out her name is Dawn tell her John Wyandt & Kim Nelson told you about her.

We planned our daughters wedding ourself, but there may some good info for you in the report that I wrote.

Dawn arranged our wedding for us back in 2009. She is absolutely fabulous, everything was perfect! I had a response back from her within 12 hours of emailing her. The website is jamaicaelegantweddings.com

Be careful when it comes to choosing the resort, my mom's wedding in Jamaica was almost a disaster because the wedding dinner we were forced to have was Italian. Nothing like badly done pasta and lasagna in really hot weather to make for a memorable meal.

That resort has since lost all of our family's business as well as our friend's and they did very little to make things better.

Also we lucked out but you might want to make sure if they have a DJ that they have working equipment(we had to bring out own) and look for a resort that actually puts you all together, some resorts are notorious for not putting you and your loved ones together in the same block of rooms.

Weddings in Jamaica are fun, I'm tempted to get married somewhere tropical simply so I can have an excuse to get a nice white suit.

We're getting married in November this year at Breezes Negril. Since we're staying 6 nights, we get the "free wedding package". Since we're not having many guests, <10 this works for us. The resort provides a coordinator here in the States and has assigned one for us when we arrive. So far, have not had any problems thus far. Keeping our fingers cross.

Isabelle Stewart with Weddings by Isabelle. She does a fantastic job, easy to communicate with, very personable and goes out of her way to for her clients. Also, Isabelle isn't tied to any one resort so you have more options. Best Wishes

We are using Jamaica Elegant Weddings for our February wedding and Dawn has been amazing! She is very responsive with emails, although, when they have bad weather it can sometimes take her awhile to return emails. You can design your wedding any way you like. We are doing a beach wedding and then have rented a catamaran for the reception for 3.5 hours, it inlcudes all you can drink and a dj. If you serve food it is a separate cost.
