Negril One stop discount card
So I'm just curious if it's possible to get a Negril One stop discount card without having booked through them. Is it possible to pay a small fee or can the hotels give them out?
I already booked my room through the hotel I'm staying at directly and then immediately found out I could have booked through One Stop for the same price and also have gotten the discount card.
I'll be going in October and a lot of the restaurants I plan on going to look like they participate.
Do the restaurants frown on people using the discount card? Can I get the discount without having to actually have the discount card?
I'm not cheap but it does bug me to know I'm not getting a discount when one is available, if I can't get one it won't be the end of the world but it can't hurt to ask if anyone knows whether they're available to people that didn't book through the negril one stop site....
Kinda kicking myself for booking as soon as I knew my travel dates, it's too late now for me to cancel via the hotel directly because it's <60 days to the reservation.
Re: Negril One stop discount card
Blake, I do not think you will get the discount as you did not book with the company!
Why would a company give you discount if you booked elsewhere? Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

Re: Negril One stop discount card
We have used Negril One Stop twice and have yet to use the discount card. The card is dated (for the exact dates that you are at at Negril One Stop property) so it is not a "forever" card. Discounts are in the 10 to 15% range. Some of the places on the list may not even be in business anymore.
Our previous experiences with Negril One Stop were positive so we just used them again to book hotels for an upcoming trip to Negril and Treasure Beach.

Bob
Re: Negril One stop discount card
We booked through Negril One Stop in late 2009, it was a good deal and smooth transaction. Hotel reservations were exactly as stated.
I did not have luck when trying to use the one stop card. Along with the discount card, you are given a sheet of paper with the discounts for various businesses. I tried to rent a motor scooter at two different establishments for the rate printed on the discount sheet. At both places I was told that it was not possible to rent a scooter anywhere in Negril for the price shown on the discount sheet. I didn't follow up on this with Negril one stop, and I did not bother with the discount card after the initial failure of the card's acceptance at two different places. Hopefully other folks have had better luck using the card.
By the way, the deal was $20/day for a scooter rental, (still low season in the first week of December). I've been able to get a price of $25/day at different places, but have never been able to negotiate a scooter for $20/day.
Re: Negril One stop discount card
We also have booked our last two trips through Negril One Stop and absolutely love them. Everything goes very smoothly from pick up to drop off at the airport but we also did not have great luck with the discount card using it at the restaurants. The few times we used it the waiter/waitress looked at us like we had 3 heads and disappeared for about a half hour to find out what it was. We gave it up after a few uses and didn't bother trying on the second trip. Again I will say that we continue to use One Stop. They are the best. You also get a 5% discount on all bookings after the first trip. That's a good deal!
Re: Negril One stop discount card
As much as I love getting a discount......I'd feel guilty trying to get one in Negril. Most the places I frequent barely get by. The last thing they want to see from me is a discount card.
Re: Negril One stop discount card
Glad to have dealt with and booked with Derek at Negril One Stop for our Coco stay this upcoming March....don't know if the discount card will be with the ink on it, but I can tell you that if you book a stay thru One Stop vs. other agaencies/web sites...we got complimentary breakfasts where the others didn't offer it, AND better rates to boot :o

....why do I think I can ever type fast without typos?.....
Re: Negril One stop discount card
When we booked last year, we used the card a few times and never had a problem. My biggest issue was forgetting that I had it!! I agree with everyone, even without the card Susan, Bob and Derek are fantastic to deal with.
