Will airline cancellations on East Coast have economic impact on future flights?
Huricaine Sandy is causing THOUSANDS of flights to be cancelled, and it might cost the major airlines millions of dollars. Will they make it up by increasing the fare on future flights?
We could be seeing higher costs to Montego Bay -- not good.
Or will the airline companies LOWER prices in a an effort of goodwill to win back customers?
Re: Will airline cancellations on East Coast have economic impact on future flights?
would you lower prices to offset a revenue loss??
Re: Will airline cancellations on East Coast have economic impact on future flights?
Actually being able to cancel flights ahead of time is much less costly than having a storm that you are trying to fly your full schedule. Parked aircraft burn no fuel and don't have landing fees etc. No de-icing. This is traditionally the slow period and they will catch up in a day or two. Just thankful its not your thanksgiving travel weekend!

I hope every thing is well next Friday...pleeaase! Hope everyone is safe and well!

I would bet on this being a non issue for ticket prices. Fuel prices are falling, and while this is canceling a boatload of flights (us air out of Philly is completely shut down), those people will still fly... It's an act of god issue as opposed to a public relations debacle. I would not get on a plane during this mess. It's no fault of the airline, either.

the prediction is that Gasoline cost will rise ??, if so....... stands to reason Jet Juice will rise ..for sure nothing will go down...:(

Beebeluv, where are you flying out?
Are you in the area affected?
Re: Will airline cancellations on East Coast have economic impact on future flights?
Beebeluv flying from SoCal should be fine if the place for layover is ok. You have time to get it sorted with airline. Enjoy your trip.
