Re: School supplies
The last day of school here in Jamaica in July 5. If you have school supplies you want to donate I'll take them. I'm Fr. Jim and my parish sponsors St. Anthony's Kitchen. Through the Kitchen we are sponsoring 36 children, helping their moms get them to school. When school resumes in September they will need uniforms, shoes, backpacks and supplies. Whatever you donate will go to outfit those kids. This program is funded mostly by the Franciscan Friars in Western Canada, with help from the local Rotary Club and the Franciscan Friars in Cincinnati, USA. We realy on benefactors. I would love to accept your gift of supplies. --Fr. Jim, Mary Gate of Heaven Catholic Church, Negril

Re: School supplies
The church, Mary Gate of Heaven, is on the beach road (Norman manley Blvd) across from Coco La Palm. The best thing to do is call and we can make arrangements. The church number is 1-876-957-4900 and my cell is 1-876-881-1763. Thanks for thinking of us--better yet, thanks for thinking of the poor, especially the kids! --Fr. Jim

Re: School supplies
Schools end here on July 5! I don't know much about summer school but I would not suggest donating things at that time. the great need is at the start of the school year in September. I don't know how much you have to donate but our Get Kids to School Program is sponsoring 36 children this year with the help of the local Rotary and the Franciscan Friars. I hope to get a larger grant for the next school year and pick up some additional children. Part of our program is to help the parents at the start of school with uniforms, shoes, backpacks and school supplies. It is quite an expense and we would welcome your support. If that idea is not what you are looking for I would suggest you contact the President of the local Rotary Club, Ken Cooney (ken.cooney@yahoo.com). he and the local Rotarians are very familiar with the local schools. --Fr. Jim
