Is there a dolphin tour to see them in their natural habitat not in a underwater cage??
Kind of depends. Where we stay at tensing, there are dolphins, out almost every afternoon. Need binoculars to see them, as they are not right at the cliffs. I would imagine they are visible from all the cliff resorts. I know there is a dolphin attraction, but it is very pricey. So far as a tour, I am not sure i have ever heard of one specifically.
This past feb saw them several days, straight out from banana shout!pretty cool!
Thanks for the info will keep my eyes open!!
If you want to travel to the south coast, Treasure Beach area, you can take a boat from there to Black River and/or Pelican Bar. I've done that boat trip about 8 times and only didn't see dolphins once (it was near sunset...maybe they were done being near shore?). On every other trip they've come right up to our boat. Our captain cut the engine and they just played with us, swimming under the boat and popping up on the other side, close enough to touch, swimming along with us, sometimes jumping. Some of the coolest experiences I've ever had in JA.
We saw dolphins every afternoon from our room at sunset on the cliffs. One day they where right near the cliff jumping. Very cool.
Thank you ohlz and mn negril fan I will check both options out!!
Ohlz, did you take the same boat every time,if so can you recommend a boat for us? And how did you get from Negril to Tb??
I have always gone with Dennis Abrahams as I met him the first time I stayed in Treasure Beach and he has become a friend. http://www.captain-dennis.com - he's very good at finding dolphins too.
I've used a couple of different drivers (including myself) to get to TB from Negril...Chicken, Sala from Talk of the Town, Alfred. It's also possible to go to Whitehouse, Black River or Parrotee and take a boat from there. Parrotee is closest to Pelican, Whitehouse closest to Negril, Black River a nice compromise, TB best for seeing dolphins along the route. It is not hard to find a boat to take you out from any of those places.
Ohliz, thanks for the detailed info much appreciated!!
