Where's the REAL Red Stripe when you need 1 or 50????
So I have 12 days befor we head to ATL to catch our flight!!!
My hubby will not be off work again until that time... my house is not ready for my parents, who are graciously packing up their lives to take care of the girls for G & me, no groceries have been bought, no luggage out yet ... so nothing packed, no trip supplies bought (except a few), and running super low on money!!! To top it all off the physicians think my only living parent has the big C ... we should know Tuesday!!!!
I am totally freaked out & sure could use some 4.7% Made in Jamaica Red Stripes!!!!

Yeah, the stuff they make in the old Rolling Rock factory in Latrobe does not taste the same.

Take a deep breath girl!
Pull the luggage out and put in it only what you need.
Do you have an online grocery service? A grocery store that delivers? Utilize and get those groceries brought to you.
As for getting the house ready? Your parents don't care what the house looks like I'm sure and because they are gracious enough to come and look after the little ones, I am sure they are gracious enough to understand what a busy lady you are :)
Running low on money ........ that's what credit cards are for :p

Yeah I would say your circumstances call for something a 'lil stronger than a Red Stripe. I don't know how it compares to the "real" stuff in Jamaica, but Rum Cream is popping up all over the place around here, now. Take a short breather and recenter yourself. Whatever comes won't be any better by you worrying about it. On the contrary - the more calm you are, the better for everyone I'm sure.
I hope your family's health scare turns out to be something very treatable. Take rinakim's advice - it's solid. You'll get through everything one step at a time, by prioritizing, looking for short-cuts on the stuff that you can, and dropping the stuff that doesn't matter or has low payoff from your plate.

I'm with ya steph....life is soooo unfair right now...we have 5 dogs, 2 cats, and a family member who housesits and takes care of them all....one of our dogs developed diabetes, and requires 2 shots of insulin daily, and now she is going blind.....my dad went in hospital sunday and will be there at least until monday, then gonna need someone to stay at home with him for while....last night Janet got the call from the house sitter that something has come up and problem with the schedule.....one thing after another....my wifes job is really rough on her lately...she needs this trip worse than ever, and now she is gonna be worried the whole time we are away that someone is caring for our handicapped dog....stress level in my house hit an all time high last night....having faith that it will work out....
today is the first day i looked at my ticker in a week or so....dont have time for anticipation right now....oh, and the things to do list has been put on hold while at the hospital, and now i don't see an end to it...
sorry for the ramble...felt like i needed scream and let it out somewhere....

Yes I miss those bottles that read: "Imported from Jamaica". I have had the beer in a can which is made in Canada. After having tasted those (no choice, we were at a festival, the only other choice was not drinking beer), the ones made in Latrobe taste pretty darn good.
Oh, and you'd think that the price would go down now that they are made in Pennsylvania! And the bottle would go back to 12 ounces. Not gonna happen.

Sorry to hear about the burdens you will be carrying on this trip steph and groove. A year ago March we made a trip while my Father was taking a pretty drastic downturn with alzheimer's. We seriously considered cancelling, but my Mother insisted we go. We were glad we went as some difficult times followed our return.
To ease your mind make sure to rent/buy a cell and have the digicel international plan or the lime thing someone mentioned on another thread. That way if someone from home needs to contact you they can call and hang up and you can call right back. With all the minutes you can also call and check as often as you wish without worrying about long distance charges.
