Just Sayin..........
i wish i'd seen some of the good old days.
but one day, my days will be the good old days
jenb....The good ole days weren't that long ago..
Me too...
I think these days as very good days - and cant wait to find out what tomorrow may bring! Always a new adventure. The past was fun, but more fun lies ahead! These are the good ole days... for me....
This past week we took a few days off to circumnavigate the island and saw many incredible sights. But the most amazing was our stop at Port Royal in Kingston. Thanks to the fact we made a wrong turn which caused us to arrive about 40 minutes later than we expected, we arrived at Port Royal at 11:30 or so. We made our way to Fort Charles for their tour and the guide thanked us for taking time out off our trip to visit Port Royal on the 321st Anniversary of the 1692 earthquake which destroyed over half of the town. Then, looking at her watch, she told us that we were there at the exact minute that earthquake struck - 11:43am.
This was a total fluke as none of us had taken the time to even check the date of the earthquake let alone the time. But what an incredible experience it was.
Below is a picture of the famous Giddy House that was upset by the 1907 earthquake that struck once again in Port Royal.

For those folks who lived in Port Royal during those years, the "good ole days" were obviously not so good... (grin)

Rob,you had to have thought that there was a bigger force that made you there on the same day and the SAME time? I will have to play 1143 in the lottery today.
If you want to remember the good ole days you have to: 1) be young enough to appreciate them in 20 or 30 years and 2) go someplace besides Montego Bay, Ocho Rios or Negril.
A few places I have been before they became overrun with tourism: Negril 1972, Santa Marta 1973, Machu Picchu 1974, Chcihen Itza 1998, Treasure Beach 2012.
A few places I've been way too late to the party: Israel, Greece, Tikal as well as later trips to Negril, Machu Picchu and Chichen Itza. IMO anyplace with a good tourist infrascructure really won't have any good ole days.
