Suggestions and some help...

First off, I know that this isn't exactly Negril related...but sort of. Please bear with me....

Hubby and I have been to Negril about 5 times and as we are thinking about our next trip, he says he would like to try Riviera Maya. We LOVE Negril and everything about it. We are comfortable there, have our favorite spots to eat and drink....but he hasn't been anywhere else in the Caribbean. Have any of you been to Riviera Maya ~ can you compare it? I prefer Negril....but I suppose I may have to compromise a bit. If you can send me a PM with some insights, that way I won't clog up the board.

I don't think I'll be any help with this. It seems everytime I vacation somewhere else, I wished I would have just went to Negril.

I have been to the Riveria Maya numerous times. Once I discovered Jamaica, I have not been back and have no desire to go back! :)

There have been numerous threads on TA on this subject. I always check them out. We love our beach vacations in Negril and often think that we should head to somewhere different. Prior to our last trip I did extensive research and for the money, I just could not make the change.

Thanks guys ~ I appreciate the help. My biggest fear in this is getting somewhere else and wishing I were in Negril. We work hard for our vacations, I would hate to waste one! haha

my biggest fear became reality when we went elsewhere. The good news was that Negril was still there for next time, and every time thereafter! :)

Don't know how long of a stay...but you could split the trip and hit both! :)

I have been to both Jenn,Riviera Maya is nice but very quiet.Not much town and nothing on the beach like Negril.Then if you go to Cancun,it's like a 2 hour ride and I think it's "too" built up. There is also a real crime issue in that country. The Mayor of Cancun was arrested for a cover up of a homicide.
